Arrival of the Canigó Flame in Barcelona

This 23 June, the journey begins at 17:00 at Camp Nou. The flame, carried by runners, cyclists and guardians of the fire, will make its way to the heart of the city: Plaça de Sant Jaume. There, at 18:00, it will be received in a solemn and vibrant ceremony by the Àliga, the Capgrossos Macers and the Giants of the City, to the ceremonial rhythm of the Cobla Sant Jordi-Ciutat de Barcelona.

The square will become a living stage: folk dances, human towers, traditional music and the lighting of the brazier will mark the beginning of the shortest, but also the most intense, night. After the reading of this year’s message, signed by Pere Mateu, representatives of the neighbourhoods will go up one by one to collect the flame.

That same night, that same flame — an eternal spark that never goes out — will burn in every corner of Barcelona. Because lighting the fire also means lighting remembrance, hope and the pride of belonging to a shared history that remains alive.
