Vi Novell Festival

The day will begin with the emblematic «espinjolament de la bota», the opening act for the first barrel of vi novell, chaired by journalist Carme Gasull. The ceremony is accompanied by a theatrical performance that takes us back to the origins of vi novell, linked to local festivities and traditions. At 16:00, the atmosphere comes alive with the «Quizz del novell», a challenge to test your knowledge of this fascinating world.

Throughout the day, attendees will be able to enjoy a wine and food market, where they will discover everything from the fruitiness and freshness of vi novell to other seasonal products that perfectly complement this drink. With a tasting ticket at an affordable cost —2 € for one tasting or a pack of 7 for 12 €—, visitors will be able to savour the essence of vi novell and immerse themselves in Catalan wine culture.

Vi novell, which is characterised by its incomparable youth and freshness, is a celebration of the vine’s new cycle. This wine, which is traditionally opened to coincide with Sant Martí day, on 11 November, marks the beginning of the young-wine consumption season in Catalonia. Its fleeting nature and particular production process make it a prominent element of the region’s culinary culture.

Festa del Vi Novell is not only an opportunity to taste the first wine of the year, but also a space to celebrate and learn about this tradition deeply rooted in Catalonia, all in a festive and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of Barcelona.
