14th Popular Culture Festival for Santa Madrona
The Raval fills with colour, music and tradition for the 14th Popular Culture Festival for Santa Madrona, an essential date for lovers of folklore and rooted celebrations. On Saturday 29 March, from 17:30, Plaça de la Gardunya will become the epicentre of a festive day that celebrates the neighbourhood’s popular roots with a spectacular display of giants, bestiary, big-headed figures and emblematic groups.

The Bouets and the Vaqueta del Raval, hosts of the event, will welcome a colourful procession: the giants of Casablanca, Centelles, Esplugues and Trinitat Vella; the Falcons de Barcelona with their human figures; the Horta bestiary and the majestic Fènix del Poblenou. After the gathering, the bustle will move to the neighbourhood streets in a parade full of rhythm and tradition that will travel through the heart of the Raval, return to the starting point and bid farewell with a display of traditional dances.
An afternoon to enjoy with the family, connect with neighbourhood culture and pay tribute to Santa Madrona, Barcelona’s third patron saint, in a celebration where popular identity shines in its own light.
