Exploring Day of the Dead traditions, the emblematic Las Ramblas of Barcelona dresses up for the parade of Mexican «Catrinas», an explosion of colour and creativity that captures the essence of one of Mexico’s most emblematic festivities. Organised by the Mexican-Catalan cultural association Mexcat and Amics de La Rambla, this event transforms the city’s most famous promenade into a vibrant stage where death is celebrated with joy and art.

The Catrinas, those skeletal figures dressed with an exquisite touch of elegance and extravagance, will parade in outfits ranging from the most traditional to the most modern and daring interpretations. This festivity is not only an opportunity to admire the richness of Mexican folklore, but also a moment for participants to express their creativity through clothing and make-up, even adding elements that pay tribute to Barcelona and its iconic Rambla.
The event jury will assess originality, make-up, clothing and the use of recycled elements, awarding the most impressive and artistic catrinas. This contest is an open invitation to all those who wish to take part and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Día de Muertos, taking the tradition beyond Mexican borders for the delight and discovery of locals and visitors alike.
The meeting point is Rambla Santa Mónica, beneath the Columbus monument, where the festive route will begin and culminate at Canaletes. It is a perfect occasion to experience the fusion of cultures in an urban setting, where Mexican tradition and Barcelona spirit meet to celebrate life, death and artistic rebirth.
