12th edition of the Feria Medieval Castrum Fidelis

The castle and its gardens will become a true medieval camp, open from 10:00 to 21:00, with weapons exhibitions, demonstration fights, archery and re-enactments showing how people lived, cooked and fought centuries ago. Parque de la Muntanyeta will host one of the most eagerly awaited moments: the Torneo de Caballeros, with jousting on horseback, stunt performers and martial choreography created for the spectacle.

Meanwhile, the historic centre and the streets surrounding the castle will operate as a large medieval market with more than one hundred stalls selling crafts, traditional food, decoration and drink. Many vendors will not only offer products, but will also work live, reviving ancient trades such as blacksmithing, glass blowing, leatherwork and wood carving.

The fair is rounded off with a programme on the move: musicians, jesters, jugglers, fire shows and roaming theatre will fill streets and squares without pause. Families will have medieval games, workshops and skill challenges, designed so that the youngest can join in without needing armour.

The celebration coincides with the Festa Major d’Hivern, so Catalan popular culture will also have its moment, with events such as the castells gathering on 8 December. And although the holiday weekend promises to be the busiest time, the atmosphere will start warming up from the previous weekend with tabalada, correfoc and sardanas.

Most activities will be free, making Castrum Fidelis a perfect excuse to spend the holiday weekend enjoying history, crafts and festivities at the foot of the castle. A medieval immersion, without a time machine, but with the same magic.
