Exhibition “And after Franco, what? (1965-1975)”
Marking fifty years since Francisco Franco's death, La Model opens a space for critical reflection and shared memory with the exhibition “And after Franco, what? (1965-1975)”. The exhibition follows the final decade of Francoism, a period marked by uncertainty, repression and, at the same time, the quiet emergence of political and social alternatives.
About this event
The itinerary unfolds across two galleries. In the fifth, the visitor enters the regime's final years: the dictator's agony, increasingly harsh repression and the international echo of a system falling apart. In the fourth, the question that gives the exhibition its title becomes an answer: here take shape the collective projects that, from the mid-1960s, imagined a different country once Francoism had disappeared.
The exhibition brings together 185 documents, including photographs, national and international press covers, manifestos, judgments and graphic materials that help to understand the complexity of the moment. These are joined by fifteen audiovisual works, with images from No-Do, historical archives and external perspectives such as excerpts from Saturday Night Live. A free proposal that invites us to consider the past in order to understand the present better.
