Exhibition «Lives between dictatorships. The photographs of Rossend Torras»

Curated by Ricard Marco and Víctor Oliva, with documentation by Enric Comas, the exhibition is organised into five sections, each devoted to exploring different aspects of Torras’s life and work. From the Torras family’s personal collection, which has generously made this treasure accessible, the works on display include around 25,000 photographs and 110 amateur films. This collection is especially rich in stereoscopic glass plates, autochromes and black-and-white glass and plastic negatives in a range of sizes, offering a unique window onto the photographic history and techniques of the period.

The exhibition not only documents the biography of Rossend Torras and the historical context in which he lived, but also highlights his favourite subjects and technical mastery. Through his lens, Torras captured scenes that now take on immense artistic and historical value, allowing us to appreciate the depth and quality of his work during a period of great upheaval. This exhibition is an invaluable opportunity to rediscover and appreciate the legacy of an artist who documented a turbulent period of history with his camera.
