“Tomasa Cuevas” Exhibition

A Communist activist, an indefatigable fighter against Franco’s regime and a pioneer of feminism in Spain, her story is a testament to courage and resilience. Through this exhibition, visitors can explore her journey from her arrest and imprisonment in several prisons to her life underground and her work as a member of the Associació Catalana d’Expresos Polítics.

In democracy, Tomasa devoted herself to documenting the experiences of women in Francoist prisons, work that culminated in a trilogy essential to understanding repression in that dark era. The civic centre bearing her name in the Les Corts neighbourhood serves not only as a space for gathering and culture, but also as a place of remembrance and recognition of her struggle for justice and equality.
