“T-100: One Hundred Years of Metro” exhibition
Room 3 of Palau Robert opens its doors to “T-100. One Hundred Years of Metro”, an exhibition tracing a century of underground modernity and celebrating the impact the metro has had on shaping Barcelona. Far from merely showing dates and technical advances, the proposal draws an urban narrative: how the arrival of the metro altered rhythms, shortened distances and became part of the everyday lives of millions of people.
About this event
Visitors encounter a story that begins in 1924, when the first tunnels announced a new way of moving around the city. Since then, the network has continued to expand, connecting previously isolated neighbourhoods and transforming them into genuine urban hubs. The exhibition emphasises that the metro is not just a means of transport: it is a shared space that shapes habits, imaginaries and soundscapes that are already part of collective memory.
“T-100” also looks ahead. Through interactive materials and technological pieces, it presents the challenges and opportunities of future mobility: automation, sustainability, accessibility and new ways of understanding public infrastructure.
The route makes it possible to understand what we were like, what we are like, and how the city may evolve thanks to its underground network. Admission is open and free, an invitation to revisit Barcelona's history from the heart of its tunnels.
