Exhibition «Suzanne Valadon. Una epopeya moderna»

The exhibition «Suzanne Valadon. Una epopeya moderna» celebrates the life and work of French artist Suzanne Valadon (1865–1938). Suzanne Valadon was an emblematic figure in the art world at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, known for paintings, drawings and prints addressing themes such as femininity, sensuality and everyday life.

The exhibition, organised by Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in collaboration with Centre Pompidou-Metz and Musée d’arts de Nantes, brings together more than one hundred works by Suzanne Valadon, of which only 48 can be enjoyed in Barcelona. It includes oil paintings on canvas and card, drawings and prints, and plaster and bronze sculptures. A documentary about the artist’s career, who played a relevant role during the period from 1910 to 1930, is also presented; seeing this documentary is essential to understanding the career of painter, draughtswoman and printmaker Suzanne Valadon.
