Exhibition «Ricard Viñes a París. Diari d'un pianista»
The exhibition Ricard Viñes a París. Diari d'un pianista invites visitors to discover the career of one of the most influential Catalan musicians of his time through an intimate and unusual perspective: the pages of his personal diary. The tour follows Ricard Viñes from his arrival in Paris in 1887, when he was barely twelve years old, to his consolidation as an essential figure in European musical life.
About this event
Settling in the French capital with his family amid significant financial difficulties, Viñes found in Paris much more than a place to train. The city became the setting in which he developed his artistic sensibility and came into contact with some of the most innovative cultural circles of the Belle Époque.
Through unpublished documents, photographs, writings and historical materials, the exhibition reveals how the young pianist built a network of friendships and collaborations that placed him at the centre of the artistic effervescence of the time. Recognised as one of the great performers of his generation, he also played a decisive role in spreading new French music and supporting numerous creators who arrived in Paris in search of opportunities.
Organised to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth, the Museu de la Música exhibition recovers the story of an artist who turned perseverance and talent into an international career, leaving a profound mark on 20th-century music.
