«Why war?» exhibition

Over the years, war has had a significant impact on society and therefore on human behaviour. War is currently present in the world and greatly affects the global economy. Despite advances in people’s capacity, understanding the causes and effects of war remains a challenge today.

War affects us all seriously, from the economy to our peace of mind. In addition, it fuels obsolete cultural structures such as patriarchy and contributes to delaying the development of countries, leaving traumatic after-effects that affect every aspect of human life.

Understanding the essence of why war? is necessary for society to understand the importance of avoiding this phenomenon. The «Why war?» exhibition presents contemporary artworks that explore war from various perspectives. These works invite reflection on violence and open spaces for dialogue and reflection. Some of the artists taking part in the exhibition include Francisco Abad, Kader Attia, Isabel Banal, Bleda y Rosa, Juan Manuel Echavarría (with Gabriel Ossa and Fernando Grisález), Alfredo Jaar, Rula Halawani, Shirín Neshat, Fernando Sánchez Castillo and Francisco Torres.
