Exhibition «Mako»
The exhibition «Mako» invites visitors to discover the creative universe of Mako Artigas, an artist who has developed a singular career between textile design and ceramics for more than fifty years. Organised by Casa Asia, Fundación J. Llorens Artigas and Palau Robert, the exhibition brings together some of the most representative pieces of a body of work marked by curiosity, travel and constant experimentation.
About this event
Curated by Ricard Bru, the exhibition interweaves prints, drawings, ceramics and personal documents to reconstruct the path of a creator who worked between Japan, Europe and the United States. From her first steps in the Japanese textile industry to her time in Paris haute couture, collaborating with internationally renowned firms, every stage reveals a distinctive vision able to move freely between disciplines and languages.
In her most recent work, ceramics occupy a central place. Forms inspired by the natural world, surfaces full of nuances and intense colours construct an intimate language that connects art, memory and landscape. Family photographs, archival materials and a documentary complete this portrait, bringing visitors closer not only to Mako Artigas’s work, but also to the personal story that made it possible.
