“La Seat: Fàbrica de Transformacions” offers a broad look at one of the companies that most influenced the evolution of contemporary Barcelona. Beyond car production, the exhibition explores how the arrival of SEAT profoundly altered the economic, urban and social landscape of Catalonia and Spain as a whole during the 20th century.

Through five thematic areas, the exhibition traces the process that led to the establishment of the factory in the Zona Franca, an event that drove the industrialisation of the area and contributed to the growth of new working-class neighbourhoods such as La Marina. The exhibition also examines the role played by the company in a context of economic and political change, becoming one of the great symbols of an era.
One of the central themes focuses on the lives of the workers and the labour struggles that marked the factory’s history. Particular attention is given to worker mobilisation and the historic 1971 strike, a key episode in the demand for rights and freedoms during the final years of the Franco regime.
Photographs, documents, original objects and artistic installations make it possible to reconstruct the memory of several generations linked to SEAT and to reflect on the transformations that continue to shape the territory today. Located in the renovated Cos de Guàrdia, the exhibition connects past and present to show how a factory came to become a decisive agent of social, cultural and urban change.
