Fundación Joan Miró opens the curtain on its 50th anniversary with «Poetry has only just begun. 50 years of the Miró», an exhibition that not only celebrates half a century of history, but also invites visitors to revisit the very foundations of the museum and its role in Catalan modernity.

The exhibition offers an open narrative, in which each visitor can interpret the multiple layers that make up the creation of the Centro de Estudios de Arte Contemporáneo (CEAC), the seed of the Fundación Joan Miró. The exhibition brings back key figures such as Joan Prats, Miró’s indispensable ally and an essential driving force in the birth of the institution.
Beyond the anniversary, the exhibition focuses on the historical contexts that marked its origin: the deep imprint of the Guerra Civil, cultural repression under Francoism and the desire to recover the modern spirit of the avant-gardes of the 1920s and 1930s.
A tribute to the people, ideals and gestures of cultural resistance that, five decades ago, sowed the seed of what is today one of the great benchmarks of contemporary art in Barcelona.
