Exhibition «La fraternidad de las metáforas - Jean-Luc Godard»
The series «La fraternidad de las metáforas – Jean-Luc Godard» offers an unusual immersion in the work of one of the filmmakers who has pushed the limits of audiovisual language the furthest. It is not only about revisiting his films, but about entering his way of thinking about cinema.
About this event
The retrospective brings together largely previously unseen materials: fifty-two audiovisual pieces including films, excerpts and interviews, alongside shooting notebooks, working archives and preparatory documents for projects such as Histoire(s) du cinéma. These are joined by programmes, dossiers prepared by Godard himself and photographs from his shoots, which allow his creative process to be reconstructed from within.
Rather than an untouchable figure, here he appears as an author in constant motion, who understood cinema as a testing ground where image, word and sound could enter into conflict or dialogue. Each piece functions as an open question, rather than an answer.
The series invites us to look — and listen — differently. To accept that meaning is not always given, but is built at the intersection of what is seen, what is remembered and what is still not fully understood.
