Exhibition “Joan Miró: ‘Circles’”
The exhibition Joan Miró: Circles proposes discovering the Catalan artist's work through a simple but recurring form in his creative universe: the circle. Rather than following a chronological route, the exhibition uses this element as a starting point to connect works from different moments in his career.
About this event
The circle appears in Miró's work in multiple forms and meanings, showing how an apparently elementary resource could be transformed within his artistic language. This approach makes it possible to recognise ideas that return, change and establish relationships between different stages of his work.
The exhibition combines pieces from the Fundació Joan Miró collection with exceptional loans from the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. The route also includes works by Alexander Calder, an artist with whom Miró maintained a close creative affinity, expanding the dialogue between the two worlds.
The proposal continues in the Xiprers garden, incorporated as part of the experience. Joan Miró: Circles thus offers a cross-cutting reading of his legacy and shows how a single form can open up new ways of observing one of the most recognisable bodies of work in twentieth-century art.
