The exhibition «Joan Andreu Puig Farran. La década convulsa (1929-1939)» opens a window onto a time when photography was not only testimony, but also resistance. Born in Lleida in 1904, Puig Farran never hung his works in a gallery, but his images circulated on the pages of La Humanitat, Esplai and La Vanguardia, becoming borrowed eyes for a generation living between hopes and upheavals.
When the Guerra Civil broke out, his camera took him to the fronts of Aragón and Mallorca. Then came the silence of exile in France and a return to a Barcelona where photojournalism was no longer permitted to him. It was then that his talent turned to other paths: advertising campaigns, tourist photography and the legendary CYP postcard imprint, created with Antoni Campañà.
The exhibition recovers that unrepeatable decade with original prints from the La Vanguardia archive, glass plates preserved by his family and pages from the newspapers that brought his vision to life. A journey to the 1930s, when every click of his camera seemed to capture history’s urgency.
