Exhibition «Isaías Griñolo. Expaña 365»
In Expaña 365, the artist Isaías Griñolo (Bonares, Huelva, 1963) once again stretches the boundaries between poetry, the archive and denunciation. The exhibition, part of his historia_contemporánea project, continues the documentary frieze begun in 2011, a lengthy investigation into gestures of dissent and the collective wounds of neoliberalism. Griñolo defines it as «modern dances of death», and its irony is as sharp as its lucidity.
About this event
The exhibition is conceived as a visual diary that accumulates uncomfortable images and memories. In Fandango (caballo), patriotic exaltation mixes with fanaticism: Franco and Abascal ride together on the wounded silhouette of the Guernica horse, surrounded by the ghosts of racist violence in El Ejido or Torre Pacheco.
In Sopla (Dios es fascista), the artist cites Brecht, Goya and the NODO, composing a collage of faith, propaganda and racism. Between Francoist masses and recent headlines, Griñolo reveals the persistence of a national rhetoric that, eighty years later, still refuses to whitewash its own past.
The tour culminates in audiovisual pieces such as 1,500 kilos and Cuaderno de trabajo nº11. Siete días, where fragmentation, editing and flamenco singing become forms of resistance.
