Exhibition «Intramuros. The cradle of modern architecture in Catalonia (1872‑1962)»

The exhibition forms part of a symbolic year for the institution: the 575th anniversary of the University of Barcelona, which coincides with the city's status as World Capital of Architecture and the centenary of the death of Antoni Gaudí, one of its most celebrated students.

Through historical photographs and texts, the tour reconstructs the academic life that unfolded in these corridors between the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th. Installed in the very spaces where classes were taught, the images establish a dialogue between past and present and allow visitors to imagine how the generations that would shape the course of Catalan architecture were trained there.

Visitors pass through classrooms, corridors and corners which now have other university uses, but which for decades were a laboratory of ideas and projects. The exhibition also recalls the role of figures such as Lluís Domènech i Montaner, alongside Gaudí, in Barcelona's architectural transformation.
