‘Instancias de violencia’ course

The CCCB lecture series ‘Instancias de Violencia’ invites reflection on the various ways violence permeates our society, from democracy and law to patriarchy. Through a critical analysis of these instances, supported by authors such as Walter Benjamin, Judith Butler and Jacques Derrida, it seeks to understand how violence is configured and operates in different spheres of social life.

The lectures will address questions such as: How does violence relate to democracy, law and patriarchy? Is it possible to conceive a form of law that does not exercise force and oppression? What role do populisms and the new far right play in the crisis of liberal democracies?

6 May. From discontent in culture to capitalist discourse. Jorge Alemán.

The series is aimed at a broad audience interested in understanding the dynamics of violence and exploring alternatives for building a fairer and more peaceful society.
