Exhibition “Photography for Artists. The collection of draughtsman Josep Lluís Pellicer”
Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona displays a large selection of photographs that draughtsman Josep Lluís Pellicer gathered throughout his artistic life. Pellicer collected a range of subjects, including rural and urban landscapes, ethnographic and military aspects, studies of the human body, and plant and animal models.
About this event
In the second half of the 19th century, many visual artists bought this kind of image from bookshops and print dealers to use as a source of inspiration.
The exhibition seeks to portray European society’s perspective on the world in that period and, especially, to pay tribute to the work of these often forgotten photographers, who contributed significantly to enriching the visual and artistic landscape of the time.
