Exhibition «Desestructuras de poder. Regina Silveira»

Since arriving in Spain in 1967, Regina Silveira has continually challenged the limits of art with her innovative, critical approach, particularly in her explorations during Brazil’s civic-military dictatorship (1964–1985), a period marked by censorship and repression.

Born in Porto Alegre in 1939, Silveira is a pioneer in Brazil in the use of new technologies for the reproduction and circulation of images. Her work transcends traditional drawing to incorporate prints, photomontages, videos and spatial interventions that play with visual perception, perspective and the codes of language.

The exhibition reviews her output from the 1970s to the present, highlighting how Silveira uses irony and conceptual deviations to comment on the past, question the present and reimagine possible futures.
