Jeff Wall exhibition «Possible Tales»

Since 1978, Wall has created around 200 works that reflect an extraordinary ability to fuse the classical composition of painting with the modernity of photography, creating images that oscillate between pure description and the threshold of imagined narratives.

This exhibition in particular stands out for its thematic diversity and profound enigmatic charge. Each piece suggests more than it shows, inviting the viewer to reflect or construct a story. From semi-rural landscapes to highly stylised scenes, Wall uses techniques ranging from the documentary approach to methods that he himself defines as «cinematic», in which the scene is carefully staged to evoke almost dreamlike worlds.

The oldest work, a 1980 landscape, shows a natural setting near Vancouver, while the most recent, from 2023, uses allegory to create images that brush against the marvellous.
