Exhibition «Growing Up Between Two Artists. Tribute to Claude Picasso»

Not every child grows up in a home where art fills everything. Claude Picasso did, among canvases, ceramics, altered toys and parents who shaped the history of modern art. The exhibition «Crecer entre dos artistas. Homenaje a Claude Picasso» focuses precisely on this: the childhood of Claude and his sister Paloma, surrounded by the creativity of Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot in their home in Vallauris, in southern France.

The exhibition presents a selection of intimate pieces, some never before seen, that reconstruct the atmosphere of that domestic and artistic universe. From the sculpture La Guenon et son petit to family photographs, paintings, ceramics and everyday objects transformed into art, visitors enter a little-explored dimension of the Málaga-born genius: his role as a father. One of the exhibition’s main figures is, however, Françoise Gilot. For the first time in Spain, her work occupies a central place, far from Picasso’s shadow, and is presented as an essential part of that shared life. The exhibition remembers Claude not only as a son, but also as a witness, bridge and guardian of two deeply intertwined artistic paths.

«Crecer entre dos artistas» is not a conventional tribute: it is a sensitive portrait of an uncommon family, told from the edges of the studio and the corners of the home, where art was not only a vocation but a way of life.
