Chiharu Shiota. Each One, a Universe

The Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota, heir to Ana Mendieta and to an entire generation of feminist artists from the early 1970s, works with her body as a space for intervention, creating performances that address the connection to the earth, the past and memory; she is known worldwide for creating enigmatic installations made of wool.

The exhibition Chiharu Shiota, Each One a Universe, presents two installations, two works on paper and five sculptures by the Japanese artist that make it possible to represent the connections between her work and that of Antoni Tapies. The project aims to bring visitors closer to the work and thought of the Catalan artist and to add new perspectives on his legacy.

Fundaciò Antoni Tapies invites Chiharu Shiota to engage in dialogue with Tapies's symbolism in the museum's exhibition spaces, with the aim of creating a play of correspondences and mirror effects that goes beyond space and time.
