Exhibition “Carlos Motta. Prayers of Resistance”

Through photographic self-portraits, performances and video installations, the exhibition is organised around four strands that address pre-Hispanic homoeroticism, care politics as spaces of queer liberation, acts of self-determination beyond the human and the recovery of silenced histories as forms of knowledge and rebellion.

In each of his pieces, Motta traces a genealogy of insubordination, connecting times and geographies to challenge the normative discourses that have sought to erase the existence of dissident bodies, desires and identities. His work is a cry against disappearance and epistemicide, a space where queer memory not only resists, but is rewritten with fury and dignity.
