«Arquitectura en paper» exhibition
From 2 to 21 March, Plaça Anglesola becomes a small architectural atlas made of paper. The exhibition «Arquitectura en paper» brings together more than one hundred cut-out models reproducing some of the most emblematic buildings in Barcelona, Catalonia and different corners of the world.
About this event
Cut-outs — sheets of paper or card that are cut, folded and assembled — have a long tradition linked to play and manual creativity. Descended from old cut-outs of soldiers or dolls and from paper theatres, these models make it possible to turn great monuments into delicate, hand-built three-dimensional structures.
The exhibition route is organised into four thematic blocks: distinctive buildings in Barcelona, in Catalonia, in the rest of the world, and a special selection dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Associació Catalana d’Amics del Retallable. Highlights include miniature versions of icons such as the Hungarian Parliament, Park Güell, Sagrada Família, Florence Cathedral and the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes.
During the exhibition, visitors will also be able to take away a free cut-out of the L’Illa building to assemble at home, extending the experience beyond the exhibition. An invitation to discover how architecture can also be built with scissors, folds and patience.
