Exhibition «Anselm Kiefer»
For the first time in Barcelona, Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera is dedicating a major exhibition to Anselm Kiefer, one of the essential figures of contemporary art. Under the title The Secret Life of Plants. Anselm Kiefer in the Colección Grothe, the exhibition brings together around forty works offering entry into a creative universe in which painting, sculpture, photography, installations and artists’ books engage in dialogue.
About this event
The works come mainly from the prestigious Colección Grothe, one of the most significant private collections devoted to the artist, and are supplemented by loans from other collectors. Rather than presenting an isolated selection of works, the exhibition creates a continuous narrative that reveals the coherence of a career marked by the exploration of memory, history, nature and the transformation of matter.
Each creation combines materials, symbols and cultural references to invite visitors into an unhurried experience, where every detail opens up new readings of knowledge, the passage of time and the human condition.
Curated by Walter Smerling, the exhibition can be visited from 2 October 2026 to 24 January 2027. The tour also incorporates a musical itinerary and digital resources accessible through QR codes, designed to enrich the visit and delve deeper into Anselm Kiefer’s artistic universe.
