Exhibition “Invisible animals: myth, life, extinction, de-extinction”

“Animals Invisibles” opened at the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona on 17 May. It is a rather unusual exhibition because it mixes art and science to invite you to see animals from another angle. You will find creatures that truly existed, others that are still alive today, and some that were born of myths or folk tales.

The proposal stems from the work of Gabi Martínez and Jordi Serrallonga, who have brought together various objects such as fossils, illustrations and works of art to create a genuine experience. Here, the dodo, dragons and little-known living species coexist. Everything invites questions.

The exhibition includes an area designed especially for the youngest members of the household, where they can awaken their questions. Stories, activities and games invite them to discover and explore our knowledge and imagination without haste. Everything has been designed to give curiosity its space.

Animals Invisibles will remain open until May next year, 2026. It is an invitation to pause, observe what we overlook and reconnect with all that science, art and myths teach us about the animal world.
