Comedy “Supersàpiens”

At the centre of the story is Valentí Muntaner, a Health Minister convinced that all cuttlefish — yes, that is what he calls the people he governs — are identical, predictable and malleable. But the unexpected arrival of a woman disrupts the order he believes to be perfect, setting off a chain of events that transforms not only his life, but that of the whole country.

The play, directed by Sergi Belbel and led on stage by Marta Torné and Enric Cambray, takes the most uncomfortable dilemmas of our time — progress versus control, freedom versus protection — and turns them into a stage experience that overflows the limits of traditional theatre. Here, the audience does not simply watch: it moves, observes, participates and passes through spaces that blend digital arts, music and technological devices that heighten the feeling of being inside a political and emotional experiment.

Supersàpiens is a sharp satire, a comedy that laughs so as not to scream, and a distorting mirror that shows how much we are willing to give up in exchange for feeling safe. A futuristic, biting journey full of ethical tensions that resonates long after the last stage light has gone out.
