A case of plagiarism at a secondary school raises a question that goes far beyond the classroom: what happens when rules collide with a deeply unequal reality? Primera ley de Newton places the audience at the centre of a conflict where easy answers disappear and every decision has consequences.
About this event
The story begins when it is discovered that Izan, a pupil about to finish compulsory secondary education, has systematically cheated in a subject. While the school tries to manage the situation, the arrival of the young man’s mother, determined to secure his graduation, and the visit of a journalist interested in the school’s prestigious educational project turn an internal problem into a crisis that cannot be hidden.
The play, written by Eu Manzanares and directed by Nelson Valente, avoids simplistic judgements to explore the cracks in a system that speaks of equal opportunities while forcing all its protagonists to make uncomfortable decisions. Teachers, family and pupils are caught between ethics, institutional pressure and the desire to protect what they believe is fair.
Performed in Catalan, Primera ley de Newton is a contemporary drama that invites audiences to question the limits between individual responsibility and structural inequalities, leaving them with questions that continue to resonate long after the end.
