“Permagel” brings the intensity of Eva Baltasar's novel to the stage in a proposal that does not seek to soften anything. Directed by Victoria Szpunberg and with Maria Rodríguez Soto as its sole performer, the piece rests on a voice that does not hide: direct, fragile and, at the same time, fierce.
About this event
The protagonist travels through an intimate territory where the urge to live coexists with the temptation to disappear. Along the way, she questions family ties, dismantles the promises of romantic love and confronts her own way of being in the world. Reading and sex appear as temporary refuges, but also as tools for understanding herself.
The stage becomes an almost suspended mental space, where every word seems to open a crack. “Permagel” speaks of what freezes inside and of the need — sometimes urgent, sometimes impossible — to break that layer in order to feel again.
More than a story, it is an unfiltered exposure. A short, 70-minute piece that leaves an uncomfortable question resonating: what does it really mean to keep going?
