Musical «Ànima»
«Ànima» does not look to the past with nostalgia, but with purpose. The musical is set in the major North American animation studios of the late 1930s, a universe of sharpened pencils and rigid hierarchies where creativity had a gender. There, in male-dominated offices and drawing tables, a group of women begins to question the established order.

The work turns that silent pulse into a vibrant show. Songs and choreography accompany a story of resistance that is not limited to gaining a job, but claims authorship of one’s own perspective. «Ànima» speaks of invisible women illustrators, talent relegated to minor tasks and the determination needed to occupy a denied space. Every musical number is another step towards affirming an artistic identity of one’s own.
With a libretto by Blanca Bardagil and created jointly with Oriol Burés, Víctor G. Casademunt and Marc Gómez, and produced by the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, the production features a large cast and ambitious stagecraft. In Catalan and 165 minutes long, «Ànima» vindicates the right to create without permission and to turn a vocation into conquered territory.
