From there, the comedy unfolds like a dangerous game. What seemed like a formula for living together — knowing when to speak and when to remain silent — falters, and with it come reproaches, uncomfortable truths and situations that border on the absurd. Humour does not soften the conflict: it exposes it, pushes it and makes it recognisable.

Directed by Claudio Tolcachir and written by Salomé Lelouch, the piece finds its main driving force in the performances of Imanol Arias and María Barranco. Both build a sharp dialogue, full of rhythm and nuance, in which every word weighs as much as every silence.

In its 70 minutes, “Mejor no decirlo” poses a question that runs through the entire performance: whether saying everything brings people closer, or whether, sometimes, balance depends precisely on what is decided not to say.
