Show «Mar i Cel»
Dagoll Dagom, in the year of its fiftieth anniversary and as a farewell to the stage, revives «Mar i Cel», a key work in the Catalan theatrical repertoire. This musical, inspired by the work of Àngel Guimerà and enriched by Albert Guinovart’s composition and Xavier Bru de Sala’s texts, has moved more than one million spectators in its previous productions of 1988, 2004 and 2014.

In this final 2024 edition, «Mar i Cel» takes to the stage while preserving its authentic essence and message of eternal relevance. The play takes place on a 17th-century galleon, the setting for a tense encounter between pirates and Christians on the high seas. This musical addresses frictions and misunderstandings between cultures, exploring the eternal conflict between East and West, all against the backdrop of two religions at war.
At the heart of the drama, a story of forbidden love unfolds between a Christian woman and a Moorish corsair, illustrating the challenges of a love beyond cultural and religious barriers. Set in the era of Mediterranean piracy and in the historical context of the expulsion of the Moriscos decreed by Felipe III, «Mar i Cel» offers not only entertainment, but also a profound reflection on the capacity for overcoming and understanding in an era of division and conflict.
