Sergei Krikalev, launched into space on 18 May 1991 aboard Soyuz TM-12, was not only a flight engineer, but also the involuntary witness to the disappearance of the Soviet Union. While he orbited the Earth, his homeland was disintegrating. When he returned on 25 March 1992, he found a completely transformed world: the USSR had ceased to exist, and he, suspended between two eras, became the last Soviet citizen.
Directed by Sílvia Navarro Perramon, the show blends historical accounts with intimate reflections, superimposing the tensions of a critical political moment on the emotions of a man trapped in time and space. With performances by Júlia Santacana Vall, Marçal Bayona Laborda and Adrià Díaz Bonet, «L’últim soviètic» not only revisits a forgotten milestone, but also invites us to consider how individual stories can, unexpectedly, become universal metaphors.
