Opera «Le nozze di Figaro»

The action takes place in a single space and in concentrated time, following the classical rules, but what happens within is far from restrained. Servants and aristocrats confront one another in a game of cunning where desire, manipulation and intelligence set the pace. Figaro and Susanna challenge the Count’s authority, while the Countess watches and resists from a solitude full of lucidity.

Beyond the intrigue, the work draws a map of relationships in which women find in complicity a form of defence against violence and male control. Mozart accompanies every nuance with musical writing that defines the characters without the need for emphasis.

In this new staging, the contemporary reading raises questions about power, consent and relationship dynamics. «Le nozze di Figaro» continues to function as an uncomfortable mirror: an 18th-century story that nevertheless continues to address the present.
