Directed by Pau Carrió, the play follows a life marked by wars and extreme decisions. Margaret moves through many roles—bride, queen, mother, strategist, exile—while trying to hold her place on a political chessboard dominated by violence. She leads armies, confronts the Yorks, loses her family and her crown, and returns years later as a voice announcing the collapse of a reign built on fear.

With a text written by William Shakespeare and Carrió himself, the production combines the strength of the classic with a contemporary perspective that makes room for the character’s ambition, fragility and lucidity. The set design, lighting and costumes reinforce a dark, epic universe, sustained by an ensemble cast accompanying this indomitable woman’s journey.

The result is intense, physical theatre in Catalan, turning history into a reflection on memory, power and the price of resistance. A tragedy that, rather than looking to the past, enters into dialogue with the present.
