Inferus draws on Dante’s imagery to construct a theatrical journey that does not seek to represent a recognisable hell, but to explore closer ones: those that run through bodies, landscapes and the way we inhabit the world. Creator Gisela Riba turns that literary reference into a proposal where movement, sound and light work as a single language.
About this event
The piece places the body at the centre, but surrounds it with new expressive layers that alter perception and build a space as hypnotic as it is unsettling. Over three acts, the work passes through different stages that evoke everything from primitive ecosystems to devastated settings, tracing an evolution that seems to move between origin and collapse.
The choreography enters into dialogue with soundscapes, impulses of light and images that oscillate between the human and the strange. The poetic and the uncomfortable move forward together, creating an atmosphere in which beauty appears precisely where certainties begin to crack.
With a running time of 55 minutes, Inferus offers an experience that is felt more than explained. A theatrical descent that offers no answers, but leaves questions hanging long after the movement has stopped.
