‘History of a failure: the rise of fascisms’ does not seek to reconstruct the past at a distance, but to bring it close enough to make us uncomfortable. The piece follows the trail of interwar Europe by combining documentary material, dramatic texts and the real voices of those who lived through its consequences, in a production that avoids nostalgia and opts for friction.
About this event
From that historical basis, the show shifts its gaze to the present. It asks what happens when certain discourses are repeated without resistance, when language is emptied and terms such as ‘fascism’ lose their weight. The work points to that blurred area where the unacceptable begins to seem everyday.
The proposal by the BarbaRosa company offers no closed answers. It prefers to open cracks: in memory, perception and the way we hear what surrounds us. Between archive and stage, the production builds a constant tension between what was and what still resonates.
Performed in Catalan and Spanish, and lasting 90 minutes, the work confronts the audience with an uncomfortable question: beyond what happened, what is being accepted today without question.
