Grand dance gala at the Liceu

The programme offers a journey from the refined classicism of Marius Petipa to the abstract elegance of George Balanchine, in a dialogue between past and present that reveals ballet’s timeless relevance. Tchaikovsky’s music guides this sonic journey with its unmistakable lyricism, while the notes of Puccini and other composers lend nuances to the atmosphere, between melancholy and ecstasy.

Among the protagonists, Ballet de Catalunya shines, a company that has achieved what seemed like a dream: turning dance into a statement of identity. Under the direction of Leo Sorribes and Elías García, they present Souvenir, by the Italian Vincenzo Timpa, a piece that breathes contemporaneity, and Fast Avance, by Sorribes himself, an explosion of neoclassical energy.

At the Liceu, dance ceases to be choreography and becomes narrative. A collective sigh, a symphony of bodies that speak without a voice. A night when art becomes flesh, and emotion, movement.
