«Gegant» brings to the stage one of those stories where genius and contradiction confront each other face to face. Set in the summer of 1983, the work places the celebrated writer Roald Dahl at a crucial moment in his life: while he reviews the proofs of his new book, the echo of an anti-Semitic article he has signed threatens to destroy his literary prestige.
About this event
During a single afternoon, in the privacy of his home, Dahl finds himself cornered by an interlocutor as intelligent as she is relentless. What begins as a conversation becomes a moral and dialectical battle in which the writer must decide whether to apologise or face the consequences of his silence.
Based on real events, the play by playwright Mark Rosenblatt paints a human and contradictory portrait of the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: a genius caught between creative lucidity and his own prejudices. With irony, tension and a dose of sharp humour, Gegant invites audiences to reflect on the limits between freedom of expression and public responsibility, between critical thought and words that wound.
A work that, without absolving or condemning, proposes looking directly at the shadows that can inhabit even giants.
