«Camps de Roselles» arrives at Sala Pangolí as an emotional jolt built from the perspective of those who sustained life amid collapse. The company La Candent sets the action in Barcelona in the 1980s, when heroin burst into the neighbourhoods and turned the streets into a devastated landscape. There, among three chairs and a stool, a story both small and collective takes shape: that of mothers who fought an invisible enemy while trying to protect their daughters.
About this event
Merche, played by Marina Fer Pla, is one of them. She arrived “in search of something more than potatoes and poppies”, but soon discovers that the city that promised opportunities is also a hostile territory where survival demands a strength that is not always available. Ana, Lola and Júlia, played by Lluna Marqués, Idaly Del Rosario and Paula Peñas, complete a human tableau where fear, tenderness and helplessness coexist without disguise.
The staging is austere, almost bare, and this sobriety underlines the harshness of what is told: what were once rose fields have become a succession of locked, closed doors. The music of César Palma accompanies without intruding, sustained by an intimate pulse that amplifies the emotion.
Camps de Roselles is a tribute and, at the same time, a reminder: behind every story of addiction there were women who never stopped fighting, even when everything seemed lost. A brief, intense and necessary piece.
