What would happen if there were a substance capable of extracting the truth without filters? That is the premise of Burundanga, Jordi Galceran’s comedy that turns a small lie into a succession of situations as absurd as they are unpredictable.

Berta is pregnant, but she has not yet found the right moment to tell Manel, her boyfriend. First, she wants to settle a doubt that keeps going round in her mind: does he really love her? Her flatmate suggests an unconventional solution: give him burundanga, the so-called “truth drug”. What seems like a far-fetched idea ends up uncovering secrets nobody expected and triggering a tangle in which each revelation complicates the previous one even further.
With a brisk pace and dialogue full of wit, the play blends humour, misunderstandings, romantic relationships and unexpected twists to show that the truth can be far more chaotic than any lie.
Directed by Albert Doz y Borja Rabanal and performed in Catalan, Burundanga keeps the audience between laughter and surprise for 90 minutes, in a comedy in which nobody escapes unscathed when secrets cease to be secrets.
