«Boja» ventures into an unusual territory on stage: the intimate space of mental health and the questions that often remain unanswered. Drawing on Mariona’s experience, the piece asks what really happens inside a psychiatric consultation and how narratives around emotional distress are constructed.
About this event
Far from drama or solemn discourse, the show approaches mental disorders with honesty and humour, turning vulnerability into stage material. Doubts, diagnoses and personal contradictions are transformed into unexpected situations that invite laughter and, at the same time, reflection. The aim is not to offer definitive answers, but to open a space where people can speak without filters and question the stigmas that still surround mental health.
With direction, make-up and costumes by Mariona Esplugues and Andrea Castellanos, and dramaturgy shared with Carolina Llàcher and Andrea Monje, Boja combines words, body and stage to construct a close and direct narrative. Performed by Esplugues herself, the production embraces a free perspective that asserts the possibility of explaining oneself without fear.
A show in Catalan that invites us to view fragility from another perspective, without labels and without imposed silences.
