«Batecs» show
«Batecs» enters territory rarely explored on stage: gestational grief. The work follows three protagonists who, when they were expecting life, find themselves face to face with loss. From there, each goes through her own process, passing through different stages of pregnancy and grief with unusual honesty.
About this event
The piece does not seek definitive answers, but rather to open a space in which to ask questions: what happens to the idea of that being who does not arrive, to the expectation that has been built, to the desire that remains. «Batecs» is conceived as a resonance chamber, a place where those interrupted heartbeats find a way to remain present through rhythm, words and the body.
Directed by Lara Díez Quintanilla and with dramaturgy shared with Ariana Ruglio, Alba Florejachs and Nídia Tusal, the production combines performance, original music by Edna Sey and careful stage work to sustain a delicate narrative without falling into silence. The result is a piece that accompanies without intruding, that names without forcing.
For 90 minutes, «Batecs» turns the intimate into a shared experience, giving voice to a grief that rarely takes centre stage.
