‘A fuego’ performance

But that voice burns. ‘A fuego’ is far more than a monologue: it is a theatrical blaze that mixes humour, poetry and social criticism in a piece that vibrates to its own rhythm. About this event
Inspired by the historical figure of Herostratus, the Greek shepherd who set fire to the Temple of Artemis simply to be remembered, the play presents a contemporary protagonist who falls into the same trap of ego and the need to transcend. His admiration becomes obsession, and obsession, crime. Yet far from being a solemn descent into madness, ‘A fuego’ becomes an ironic mirror that makes us laugh – sometimes out loud, sometimes uncomfortably – at our own vanity.
The writer-performer leaps from character to character, mocks himself and the conventions of theatre, and drags us into a spiral of metatheatricality in which the desire to leave a mark becomes the real protagonist.
