Show: «A Room of One’s Own»

The play starts from an apparently simple idea—for a woman to write, she needs financial independence and a room of her own—and from there unfolds a reflection on literature, education, freedom, and inequality. Woolf observes with irony the rules of a society that had only just begun to legally recognise basic rights for women, and poses questions that, almost a century later, still provoke uncomfortable answers.

María Ruiz is responsible for the dramaturgy and direction of this adaptation, performed by Clara Sanchis. The staging preserves the lecture-like character of the original, but transforms it into a lively, sharp, and humorous theatrical dialogue.

A Room of One’s Own is performed in Spanish and runs for 85 minutes.
