Barcelona International Comedy Short Film Festival ‘Tashortfest’
In a world that sometimes takes itself too seriously, Tashortfest returns to Barcelona with its ninth edition to remind us that laughter also deserves a place on the big screen. From 3 to 5 July, Centre Cívic La Teixonera becomes the international epicentre of comedy short films, hosting the world’s first festival devoted exclusively to this genre.
About this event
This year, the festival looks to the past to rethink the future: it pays tribute to Charles Chaplin, that visionary of silent cinema who knew how to speak louder than many with just one look. Modern Times will be one of the star screenings, accompanied by live podcasts that bring Chaplin’s legacy together with contemporary dilemmas such as artificial intelligence.
More than 50 short films will compete and make the audience laugh in sessions as varied as Panorama (a global look at audiovisual humour), Gamberra (for those who enjoy unfiltered humour), or the eagerly awaited final gala with the most applauded shorts.
Tashortfest is more than a festival: it is an invitation to laugh heartily again, through small stories that make comedy great. Because sometimes, in just a few minutes, a short film can say more than an entire feature film.
